Suddenly A Wild Poster appears

Zeiju has invited me to post in this blog as well.  A little about myself and the hobby. I collect and play Retribution of Scyrah, Circle of Orboros and Protectorate of Menoth.  Straight up you can see that I go for the factions with long winded names.  Actually, I just happen to love the models and style of the miniatures for these factions.  Still getting my head around the rules and regularly get beaten by Zeiju and her nasty trolls, I won't mention how badly she trounces me when she pulls out her Legion.

Both of us are quite new to the hobby, though I used to play Warhammer which I feel is a disadvantage as it is like comparing chess to checkers.  Warmachine is much more like chess where as warhammer is more like checkers, sure there is some strategy but its mostly in list selection.  Hordes and Warmachine is a lot more tactical with many more ways of winning and even different casters in the same faction can play very differently and want completely different forces.

I don't have any pictures to post just yet as my camera work is bad and nothing is based.  Still as soon as I overcome these obstacles I will start posting my work.  Sadly, its not as good as Zeiju's but I try.

Anyway, that's quite enough for now.

Legion of Everblight

So as I mentioned before I don't just collect/paint trolls. This is my Legion army, not that it is very impressive. 

I have actually decided to deviate a little from the original colour scheme. This one is inspired by some of the sepia drawings done in the LoE army books.

This force is the battle box + the holiday bundle from 2012/13, and a few extra. There are 2 shredders missing, they are metal and I haven't gotten around to putting them together.

Starting from the back row, right to left:

• Warspears (1 Leader 4 Grunts)
• Scythean
• Ravagore
• Carnivian

Middle Row:

• Blighted Nyss Striders (1 Leader 5 Grunts)
• Blighted Nyss Shepherd
• Blighted Nyss Sorceresss and Hellion
• Shredders (4)

Front Row:

• Lylyth, Herald of Everblight
• Absylonia, Terror of Everblight

As with my Trollblood force there are a few minis painted in this army as well. These guys were done to test my ideas for the army colour scheme. I think the turquoise and deep red set off the mini, so of course I was a bit worried about the war beasts looking washed out. I think the shredder came up quite nicely though.

Trollbloods - List 35pt

So I played Trollbloods last night at my local game store, and while the game was close I noticed quite a few shortfalls in my list. Firstly the lack of range was annoying and the lack of magical attacks. This is my 35pt list:

I was versing the Testament of Menoth. His feat saw my mauler destroyed before he could do anything and his zealots obliterated my Kriel Warriors. Like I said it was close, my fennblades got Testament down to 6 health and I only needed an 11 on 3 dice on Madraks thrown axe. I rolled a 10. So Testament lived on 1 health and Madrak was destroyed next round.

Any suggestions for list changes would be awesome. Please comment below if you know of a way to help improve this list and reasons for the changes.

Trollbloods - Kriel Warriors

As you probably saw in the previous post a teeny tiny part of my army had some colour on it!

I didn't want my army to have the deep blue skin, I wanted them to look more dirty and grotty so I mixed the blue with a brown for the shading.

I went to my local Good Game shop last night and the guys there said they were the "second best" painted trolls they had seen. I suppose I can't complain about that, maybe I should kick it up a notch.

I spent a little bit of time adding the stripes to his pants.

So I have a lot of work ahead of me! Only 3 of these guys are fully painted, I will do the basing in bulk when I have about half of these guys done.

Exciting Things

Jannissa Stonetide - Minor Conversion

   My plan is to bead rocks on the wire so it looks like she is casting one of her spells. 

Madrak Ironhide, Thornwood Cheiftan - Base

   I really like the new sculpt, the basing I have done i think really makes him pop.

Mountain King - Just because he is awesome (and he cost a lot)

   He just looks really, really awesome. I am super excited and a little scared to paint him. It is a really big job. I am still green stuffing the cracks, he is missing his jaw, his butt-flaps, some of his arm rocks and his whelps. I don't think I will properly assemble him till I have painted most of him.

New Beginnings

Hello,

This is a blog about Warmachine and Hordes, showcasing my painted minis and also some random stuff about lists and strats. I collect Trollbloods mainly, my other two armies are Legion of Everblight and Khador. Most of my stuff is not painted at the moment but when it is I will be posting it here. Also some friends will be posting their minis here as well to keep the range diverse and fresh.
